Woman targets cheating boyfriend’s car

Randfontein woman arrives at her boyfriend's home and allegedly damaged his vehicle's windscreen and tyres in a fit of jealousy .

A 23-year-old woman attacked her boyfriend’s vehicle after he allegedly cheated on her, Bekkersdal Police said.

She is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on a charge of malicious damage to property.

The incident took place at about 4.20pm on Tuesday, 10 April. Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, explained that the suspect had allegedly arrived at her boyfriend’s home, where in a fit of jealousy, she damaged his vehicle’s windscreen and tyres.

“It is alleged the suspect arrived at the boyfriend’s home to find other females there, and accused him of having an affair with one of them. She then waited for them to leave before damaging the vehicle.

“The neighbours assisted the victim and the police were summoned. A case of malicious damage to property was reported. The suspect was arrested and will be charged accordingly.”

Benitta Shibiri, acting Bekkersdal station commander, condemned the violent behaviour displayed by the woman.

“There is a Victim Empowerment Centre based at the Bekkersdal Police Station which deals with anger management and other domestic violence referrals that the community should use in such instances, rather than resorting to committing crimes”, she concluded.
