Criminals target local high school

Police said criminals got away with school property and are still at large.

Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt after robbers made off with six Smart board devices from a high school in Simunye recently.

It is alleged that on the day, two security guards who were on duty at the school, were accosted by the suspects who were armed with firearms.

“It is further alleged that the suspects demanded the computers, and when the victims resisted, they were tied up, assaulted and later dragged to the area behind the classrooms,” police said.

Police also said the suspects broke into one of the offices and got away with the Smart boards.

The suspects are still at large and we are appealing to the community to assist with information that could lead to an arrest,” the police said in statement.
