Man arrested with stolen TV stand

A man pushing a trolley with a box resting on top of it was arrested after it turned out that he was in possession of an allegedly stolen TV stand.

On Tuesday, 3 April, the Westonaria Police arrested a 27-year-old man in the CBD while he was in possession of suspected stolen property in the form of an unassembled TV stand.

According to Warrant Officer Raymond Sebonyane, Westonaria Police spokesperson, “At about 10pm, the Westonaria Police Intervention team led by Constable Joseph Mlandini was conducting routine patrols around Westonaria. At Forbes Street in the CBD, Constable Tankiso Khoele spotted a man pushing a steel shopping trolley with a box on top of it. He stopped the man, and asked him what was in the box and where he was taking it to.

“He could not give a clear explanation, nor could he produce any documentation for the object. The member examined the box and found that it contained an unassembled TV stand.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.

Colonel Selvan Moonsamy, the Westonaria Police station commander, commended the members for their vigilance as several cases of business burglary were reported in the CBD recently.
