What to do for Easter?

It's Easter and if you are looking for something to do during the long weekend, then be sure to check out this list of fun Easter events for 2018!

• 24 March to 1 April: The Nissan Easter Festival 2018 at Kyalami

If you are looking for a non-stop fun-filled programme during the Easter weekend which includes an Easter Egg Hunt, dog agility show, Lipizzaner show, horse carriage race, fancy dress class and so much more, then you will not want to miss the Nissan Easter Festival 2018! • 30 March to 8 April: The Rand Show 2018 in Johannesburg

Joburg’s biggest day out is back and promises to be bigger and better than before! The Rand Show is the perfect family outing, offering something fun and exciting for both young and old. Guests can visit the interactive Food Theatre for culinary delights and displays, the Science and Tech Laboratory for edutainment for all ages, and The Man Cave which offers men a sanctuary filled with plenty of gadgets, bikes, tools and whisky!

• 31 March: Easter Folk Market and Fairy Festival in Johannesburg

You don’t want to miss out on the magical Easter Folk Market and Fairy Festival. Spend the day meandering through a real forest, spot the fairies and see their little houses along the Faerie Trail. Make sure you put on your prettiest fairy outfit and fairy wings, as they will be taking photos of all their visitors – big folk and little folk, even four-legged friends dressed as fairies, and trying for a world record. Enjoy the beautiful craft stalls under the trees. Treat your tastebuds to delicious artisanal food stalls and trucks, yummy fresh-baked goodies, fresh hot cross buns and home-made Easter eggs. Craft beer, pink gin cocktails and drinks in coconut eggs will also be available on the day. As for the fun activities, there will be a maypole with dancing ribbons, folk music under the trees, kites decorating the sky, archery for big and small visitors, tree climbing, pony rides, tomahawk toss, zip-lining for kids in the trees and exciting Easter Egg challenges. • 31 March: Easter Egg Hunt at the Weekend Market JHB

Easter isn’t Easter without an Easter Egg Hunt! So, if you’re looking to treat your kids, then don’t miss out on the Easter Egg Hunt at the Weekend Market JHB. There will also be loads of fun entertainment and rides to keep the little ones busy at Kids’ World. And for the parents, the Prawn and Food Festival will be running on the same day!

• 1 April: Ekurhuleni Easter Experience in Tembisa

This Festival is said to be one of the biggest of its kind in South Africa. People attend it in numbers, so make sure you make it there too. Be the number! The Ekurhuleni Easter Experience is making waves and coming back for the 6th year. Expect nothing but the best line-up, with South Africa’s finest artists that will keep you on your feet. Take time away from the busy rushed city life and just kick back, relax and enjoy the country/ farm life. This coming Easter, try something new by going to watch Lipizzaner stallions display their skill of dressage. You will get the chance to feed carrots to the horses and entice your taste buds with some light refreshments at Café Capriole.

• 1 April: Super Rugby 2017 final rematch between Lions and Crusaders

Why not take the whole family and support the Lions against the Crusaders in what could be a repeat of last year’s Super Rugby final at the same venue, Emirates Airline Park on Easter Sunday, 1 April. The Lions topped the overall standings in 2017, but what should’ve been a fairy-tale ending for Johan Ackerman and his men ended in a 25–17 defeat to the seven-time Super Rugby champs. The Lions, will, however, have an opportunity come Easter Sunday to rectify things.
