R’fontein Show donates bras for charity

Now this is recycling with a difference! Randfontein Show organisers donated baskets full of bras to four local charity organisations.

On Tuesday, 27 March, the Randfontein Show organisers handed over approximately 660 bras to four charity organisations who focus on the needs of women.

The bras were collected at the recent Women’s World Day of Prayer held at the Randfontein Show on Friday, 2 March.

“We took hands with the ZABra initiative this year and are delighted to have been able to make a difference in women’s lives,” said Marcelle Mans, the Show Coordinator.

ZABra was started by Jeanette Kruger, who currently lives in the United Kingdom, and collects pre-owned and new bras for women who can’t afford their own.

“We don’t deal with money, instead we rely on our worldwide volunteer network of CupHolders to help us collect and deliver bras where they are needed,” said Jeanette.

Marcelle has become the official ZABra CupHolder for Randfontein.

The West Rand charities that received bra donations are Cradle of Hope (Tower of Life Women’s Shelter), Annebel Foundation (Disadvantaged Teenage Girls), Women Against Women and Child Abuse (WAWA) and A Re Ageng (Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence).
