Young woman kidnapped, almost raped

Randfontein Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects involved in the kidnapping and attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman.

A 19-year-old woman was kidnapped and almost raped by two men in Mohlakeng last week, according to the Randfontein Police.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, said they are investigating a case of armed robbery. The incident occurred at about 11.45am on Friday, 23 March.

“The woman was walking in Mohohlo Street in Mohlakeng when a black vehicle with two unknown occupants stopped alongside her. One of them pointed a firearm at her and ordered her to get into the vehicle. They drove into the nearby field and took her laptop and cellphone.

“One suspect also attempted to rape the victim but the other suspect said no,” Ernst said.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the two suspects and are appealing to members of the community to come forward with information.
