Police on the West Rand are appealing to the community to come forward with information following a murder in Fochville.

According to a statement by Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “The Fochville Police are currently investigating a murder case in which a 42-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Mphahla Village in Extension 6 on Wednesday, 21 March.

“It has been alleged that the deceased had been drinking with other people shortly before his murder.

It has also been alleged that the deceased left the shack, returning shortly afterwards with stab wounds, and collapsed subsequently. Police said the man was immediately rushed to a local clinic, but was declared dead later.”

Lieutenant Colonel Phumelele Matamale, the Fochville Police station commander, conveyed her condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

She also urged the community to condemn acts of this nature.
