Two Lesotho nationals stoned to death in Waterpan

Two foreigners found stoned to death in Waterpan, according to the police.

Two foreigners were found dead in the Waterpan area on Monday, 19 March.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the two bodies are those of Lesotho nationals who were stoned to death.

A manhunt for the murder suspects has since been launched.

“The police received a complaint of murder between 12.30pm and 1.50pm at Thabong Village in Waterpan, and proceeded to the scene where they recovered two bodies with multiple injuries. The suspects are currently unknown and the police are still investigating the motive behind the killing.

“We are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. Colonel Abraham Nkhwashu, the Bekkersdal Police station commander, condemned the violent behaviour displayed by the community and urged the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

“This kind of action is against the law and all who acted unlawfully will be traced and arrested,” he concluded.
