Randfontein police combat crime

Randfontein Police together with other law-enforcement agencies are curbing criminal activities and ensuring that there is compliance with the law on a regular basis.

They have made 65 arrests recently, which included clamping down on those driving under the influence of liquor, those in possession of drugs, possession of dangerous weapons and possession of unlicensed firearms. A total of 42 suspects were arrested for possession of and/ or dealing in drugs.

Police said their inspections relating to compliance with liquor and second-hand goods legislation resulted in 31 fines being issued to those operating illegally.

The Randfontein Police station commander, Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela commended the police members who are continuously addressing those factors contributing to crime.

“We believe that prevention is better than cure. Theft out of motor vehicles, housebreakings and robberies for instance are in some instances committed by drug addicts who need cash to feed their addiction,” Manamela said.

He said murders and assaults are prevented by removing dangerous weapons and firearms from communities.

“These arrests positively impact on our crime and ensure a safer environment for our residents.”

The Police call on the help of the community to assist them with information.
