Police bust 12 suspects with dagga

The suspects were arrested for being in possession of dagga

Twelve suspects were arrested in Bekkersdal on Thursday 15 March for possession of dagga.

They were suspected of being illegal immigrants, as did not have the required documents. Those arrested are between the ages of 19 and 51 years. The arrest took place during the Rural Safety Cluster Operation that was led by West Rand Cluster Police members who joined forces with the Randfontein AfriForum members and the Bekkersdal Police.

They also conducted a disruptive operation at Donaldson Dam during which equipment used by illegal miners was confiscated.

Police said the thorough search that was conducted in the area yielded positive results.

The Bekkersdal Police station commander, Colonel Abraham Nkhwasu also commended members for their commitment to ensuring that crime is combated.

“Fighting crime is our responsibility and when we work together, crime can be beaten,” Nkhwasu said.
