The Peoples Theatre is bringing Alice in Wonderland to Johannesburg. What an idea. A crazy, mad, wonderful idea. In March and April, travel down the rabbit hole and join Alice, one of literature’s most beloved heroines, on her madcap adventures. The ever-curious Alice’s journey begins innocently enough as she chases the White Rabbit. Her adventures become increasingly more strange as she races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar, is shrunk, stretched, scratched and stuffed into a teapot, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game! Think it’s impossible? Only if you believe it is. The characters are not crazy, their reality is just different to yours. But you’ll love it. From the Mad Hatter to the Cheshire Cat, the eccentric personalities add to the colourful, psychedelic world of Alice in Wonderland. For more information, call 011 403 1563/2340.

• 1 June: Play golf for abandoned infants in Robinson

Why not put your swing to the test in the name of charity and a good cause? Just In Time Baby Sanctuary, a registered non-profit organisation that looks after abandoned, abused and neglected babies, and is situated in Greenhills, will be hosting its first Golf Day at the Randfontein Country Club on Friday, 1 June, in conjunction with Biz Fusion Consulting. According to Georginia Caetano, Just In Time Baby Sanctuary CEO and founder, “We would like to invite individuals and companies to participate and assist us financially so that we can continue taking care of babies. We are currently only permitted to care for six babies at a time, but we have great plans to expand during 2018, so that we can help more babies. The operating costs of this project are astronomical. They currently run at R35 000 per month and will increase to R70 000 once we have expanded. This is why it is of utmost importance for us to launch regular fundraising initiatives such as this. We receive zero financial support from the government and rely solely on the generosity of the public and corporates. We hope that you will participate in this project in order to help us make a difference in the lives of helpless babies.”
