Men sentenced to 15 years for armed robbery

Raymond Mdletshe, 33, and Edison Mosimanyana, 31, were both found guilty for robbery and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each.

Two men were sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment each for an armed robbery committed in October last year.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed that the case was successfully concluded in the Randfontein Regional court recently.

Raymond Mdletshe, 33, and Edison Mosimanyana, 31, were both found guilty on this charge and they were sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment each.

“A 32-year-old victim was robbed at gunpoint in a street in Mohlakeng that evening. He was robbed of two cellphones and assaulted by the suspects. He recognised the two suspects and was able to identify them to the police. On 10 October both suspects were arrested by Constable Mokodi and charged with robbery,” she said.

Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela, Randfontein Police station commander congratulated the investigating officer, Constable Mogomotsi Mokhaba on the outcome of his investigation.

“Your dedication and commitment throughout the investigation and the court process paid off,” the Brigadier said.

“Randfontein Police Management also applaud the presiding Magistrate, Ettienne van Niekerk and the prosecutor, Johannes Makhubele for their stance in this matter.”
