Who won the senior cheerleading competition at the Randfontein Show?

Watch the live announcement here ...

Like a scene out of an eagerly awaited Hunger Games sequel, the captains of the cheerleading squads from the West Rand’s three most beloved high schools made their appearance on stage.
Everyone in the massive audience waited in anticipation to hear the order in which the teams would perform.

First up would be Hoërskool Jan Viljoen (Jannas) , then Randfontein High School (RHS) and last (but not least) Hoërskool Riebeeckrand (Riebeeck).
A breathless silence ensued as the captains went offstage, and then the Jannas squad marched into the spotlight.  A stunning mix of modern music began, and their supporters went nuts. Their performance was incredible.

Then, it was the turn of the girls from RHS.  Their performance, which had an aviation theme, rocked the crowd with a fascinating story of flight, dance and comic scenes with a war cry similar to that of the All Blacks. It was awesome!

Last was Riebeeck, with a breathtaking new age routine, packed with throws and spins, fronted by captains who showed that they were queens.

The audience was wild with excitement.

(The videos of each of the routines can be seen on the Herald‘s Facebook page)
But in the end, it was the squad from Randfontein High School that won the competition fair and square, with their absolutely scintillating performance.
