Thapelo teaches pupils to find inner peace

Even if I just plant a seed, chances are they will ponder on what I said.

Twenty-one-year-old Thapelo Welsome Msomi is not your average person, who at his age parties and is interested in relationships etcetera. He has a passion and has followed through on it for the last two years.

Thapelo has been to Randfontein High School, Hoërskool Jan Viljoen, Rand View College and Madiba Secondary School to motivate the learners. Thapelo works in Randfontein, but he could not ignore his gift, which is to help learners with their problems and the way they live their lives.

“I want to change the youth’s mindset. Even if I just plant a seed, chances are they will ponder on what I said. I teach the learners to stay away from drinking, drugs and relationships that are bad for them. They must focus on their future, and God.”

He also touches on subjects like depression, stress and anger. Thapelo believes that you must first have inner peace, and be able to be happy by yourself. He said there is no need to do things that please others.

One of the schools he enjoyed motivating most was Rand View College. “I really connected with them, and now, when they see me, we are like friends.”

Before he goes to a school, he prays for the learners.

” My father taught me to always stay humble, and that is also what I tell the learners.”
