Seven Year Sentence For Business Burglary

The sentence was passed on 13 February 27, by the Westonaria Regional Court.

Mncedisi Malahlekane (49) and Bheki Dlamini (42), both from Westonaria Borwa. were convicted on 15 February on charges of burglary.

Both men were sentenced to an effective seven years’ imprisonment, of which three years were suspended for a period of five years on condition that they are not convicted of business burglary, house-breaking with the intent to commit an offence, or theft during the period of suspension.

The sentence was passed on 13 February by the Westonaria Regional Court.

“Last year, on 14 November, Constables Hector Makondo and Mkateko Mathe attended to a business burglary complaint at Tiger Cash and Carry Store in Westonaria. Upon arrival, they found the store owner and security guard had apprehended two males who were hiding in the shop,” said Warrant Officer Sebonyane, spokesperson for the Westonaria Police.

During the search conducted by the police officers, the amount of R13 300 was found in the possession of one of the suspects. The two suspects were charged with business burglary and the case was allocated to detective Constable Ntlama who made sure that the suspects did not getting bail.

The acting station commander at Westonaria, Lieutenant Colonel Hazel Makhafola, applauded the two police officers, the store owner, and the security guard for cooperating with each other.
