Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for two house robbers after they forced their way into a house and took off with a plasma television.

It is alleged that in the early hours of on Friday, 23 Februarie – at about 4am – a 33-year-old woman woke up feeling thirsty.

“She found two black males wearing balaclavas inside her house. The were wielding big knives,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

One of the intruders took her to the bedroom while the other one unplugged the television. The two escaped through the window with the television and are still at large.

“We are appealing to the public to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. Information may be communicated to the Bekkersdal Police on 011 755 00 00 or contact Crime Stop on 08600 1011,” added Lefakane.

It is a crime to buy, sell and store stolen property . “We therefore urge the public at large to refrain from providing criminals with a market for stolen property.” she said.
