Show-goers have fun! Lawbreakers beware …

While show-goers are encouraged to have a blast come 1 March, there will be zero tolerance for lawbreakers.

With only seven sleeps to go, final preparations are well under way for the 32nd Randfontein Show.

The event takes place from 1 to 4 March.

According to Joy Hamann of the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA), the stadium’s transformation from an ordinary sports ground to the West Rand’s biggest business and social extravaganza is certainly something to behold, but, while show-goers are encouraged to have a blast, lawbreakers have been warned that there will be a zero tolerance policy.

The RPA said in a recent statement that, “Security marshals and police have adopted a Zero Tolerance policy with regard to the abuse of alcohol, and strong action will be taken against anyone found to be drunk or fighting in public. No person may bring liquor, firearms, drugs or other weapons onto the grounds. Security personnel are within their rights to search bags and containers. CCTV cameras are located in numerous areas around the grounds and anyone found breaking the law will be arrested on the spot.

“Strict liquor laws govern events like these and no one is allowed to bring their own liquor onto the grounds or walk around the grounds with alcohol. There are a number of demarcated areas where one can enjoy a drink and a meal – the Spur Kuierskuur, Randfontein Rugby Club Beer Garden, the Van Loveren Wine Tent and Kobus se Gat restaurant.”
