Man found with bags of dagga at garage

A suspicious-looking man at a garage in Waterpan was arrested yesterday for being in possession of bags full of dagga, thanks to the alertness of an off-duty officer.

The alertness of Constable Mzwandile Masuku, an off-duty police officer, led to the arrest of a suspicious-looking man in possession of bags full of dagga at a garage in Waterpan.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said, “He received information about a suspicious-looking man at the Waterpan garage. He called for back-up before responding to the information.

“Constable Bongani Teane, who was busy with routine crime prevention duties, assisted and the suspect was arrested immediately. He is expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.”

Colonel Abraham Nkhwashu, the Bekkersdal Police station commander commended the police member for a job well done and encouraged him to follow the same practice at all times and not try apprehend suspects or act on a tip-off alone as it might endanger his life.
