Attempted murder – manhunt launched

"We urge the community not to try and apprehend the suspect as he is deemed to be dangerous," warned Sergeant Linkie Lefakane.

A manhunt was launched for a suspect after a 44-year-old victim was shot at Tambo Section on Thursday, 1 February.

“It is alleged that the victim was shot in the stomach at Bekkersdal West Clinic at approximately 2pm,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

A case of attempted murder was registered and the suspect is on the run. The Bekkersdal Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting and are appealing to the community of Bekkersdal, particularly the informal settlement to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
