Mzi Khumalo, Executive Mayor of the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) recently gave a number of school uniforms to needy learners at Kamogelo Primary School in Simunye.

According to Lerato Paai, a communications officer at the RWCLM, the Mayor handed the uniforms to 20 needy learners who had been identified by the Isinamva Sewing Cooperative.

Learners receiving their uniforms (from the left): Koketso Maiyane, Mohau Ncokwana and Lesego Tlhabanelo.

“This is to show that the Mayor upholds the principles of partnering with community stakeholders in programmes that seek to bring change to communities with real needs,” said Lerato.

“It also shows the good working relationship between various departments, such as the Department of Social Development, local government and the community.

“This is not the first time that Isinamva has been involved in a project of this kind. Last year, we were at another school at Bekkersdal. The project also helps the residents of Simunye by creating jobs”, said Phumzile Wangisi, the secretary of Isinamva.

“We are here to donate uniforms to you, not just so that you look good but also to encourage you to learn, learn and learn”, the Mayor told the learners.
