JUST IN: R’fontein cop kills wife at their residence in Greenhills

Randfontein Police officer kills wife, also a police officer, early yesterday morning.

Gauteng Police are investigating a case of murder after a Randfontein Police officer allegedly shot and killed his wife, also a police officer, in the early hours of Monday morning (29 January).

Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, Gauteng Police spokesperson, confirmed the deceased, 34, was a constable at Tarlton Police Station and her husband, 37, a sergeant at the Randfontein Police Station.

According to Dlamini the woman’s body was found dumped in an open veld near Randfontein Road.

“The suspect was arrested while fleeing to Limpopo and he will be facing charges of murder. It is suspected that the victim was killed in their house in Greenhills in the early hours of the morning. Domestic violence might have been the motive, although investigations are continuing.

“Police in Randfontein were contacted by the neighbours who allegedly heard gun shots.

As they entered the premises, they found traces of blood, but nobody was on the premises. Further investigation led to the discovery of the body.”

Meanwhile police are appealing to community members to report any signs of domestic violence.
