Young man jailed for three years

Housebreaking and theft offender, aged 22, gets three years in prison.

Daniel Morobe, 22, from Bekkersdal was recently convicted and sentenced to three years direct imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.

He committed the crime in November last year.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the sentence came after the youth was found inside a house in Mosidi Street, Bekkersdal.

“On 16 November 2017, the victim locked his house and left. He hadn’t gone far when he decided to go back. He was surprised to find his door open and when he entered he saw the fridge had been left open. He walked into the bedroom and found an unknown suspect busy ransacking his house.

“The suspect tried to attack the victim and the police were contacted. The suspect was arrested and charged with housebreaking and theft and has been in custody until his sentencing.”

Detective Constable Tshepo Mashala welcomed the sentence.
