First day for Grade 1s at RCA

Here they are, R'fontein's first Grade 1's for 2018.

Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA) welcomed their first Grade 1s – Kutlwana Nkuna and Olwethu Mogale – for the 2018 school year on Thursday (11 January).

With them of course was mommy.

“I am very excited and thrilled. Grade 1 is something special as she is my firstborn and first to reach this milestone. At the same time, I now have to up it as a mother and help her during this time.

The kids were all over the place during the holidays but I guess it’s a case of going to bed earlier, back to school, back to reality,” said Olwethu’s mom, Ellen.

Flora Nkuna, mother of Kutlwana added, “I’m pretty emotional and can’t believe my baby is in Grade 1 already. She was nervous before her first day but I just told her everything would be fine.”

Asked what the little ones will be doing on their very first day, Clarisse Venter, RCA spokesperson said, “We’ll be settling in, get to know one another, sort out stationery, get them acquainted with what’s going to happen during the year and do back-to-school art.”

Schools officially open for the learners on Wednesday, 17 January.

The Herald will be out and about to capture some real special moments for parents and kids alike.

Olwethu Mogale proudly hangs up her school bag on her first day with Kutlwana Nkuna next to her.
