According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, “It is alleged that Warrant Officer Mike Beukes and Constable Sibusiso Nonkonyane were patrolling around Simunye when they spotted a suspicious-looking man. They stopped the vehicle he was travelling in and requested to search him. In his possession they found live ammunition.

He failed to give a reasonable explanation for being in possession of it. He was arrested and charged with possession of unlawful ammunition.”

Lieutenant Colonel Thembekile Shibiri, the acting Bekkersdal Police station commander expressed his gratitude to the members for the arrest.

“One case of unlawful possession of ammunition is one too many. The community must know that it is against the law to carry live rounds, and/ or firearms without being able to show the requires licence,” she said.
