Head-on crash leaves four critical

Four people, including a young child are in a critical condition after a head-on collision outside Fochville on Sunday afternoon (10 December).

Four people, including a ten-year-old girl, were left critically injured after two light motor vehicles collided head-on on the N12 outside Fochville on the far West Rand on Sunday afternoon (10 December).

ER24 paramedics along with other services found the two vehicles on the side of the road.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said, “Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a man lying trapped inside one of the vehicles. An elderly woman and another woman, believed to be in her 30s, were trapped inside the second vehicle, while a ten-year-old girl was lying outside one of the vehicles.

“Paramedics assessed the victims and found that all four had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. They were treated for their injuries and were provided with advanced life support interventions. Three of the victims were airlifted to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The remaining patient was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.”

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
