Police on manhunt for house robbers

The Police are appealing to the public to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

The Bekkersdal Police have launched a manhunt for suspects after they entered a 48-year-old victim’s residence and robbed him at gunpoint.

According to Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the incident happened in Simunye on 17 November 2017 at approximately 8 pm. It is alleged that the victim was at home with his girlfriend and a friend when he was accosted by one suspect armed with a firearm.

“The suspects pointed the firearm at him, demanded money and his licensed firearm. Two other suspects joined in and allegedly assaulted the girlfriend,” said Lefakane.

The suspects searched the victims and took the victim’s car keys and drove off with a Toyota Verso. The suspects are still at large.

The police are appealing to the public to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and urges them not to try and apprehend the suspects as they are deemed to be armed and dangerous.
