• 14 October to 29 November: ‘Evita the Musical’ at the Teatro at Montecasino in Fourways
The seven-time Tony Award-winning musical Evita follows the rags-to-riches story of the First Lady of Argentina, who won the love of her country’s people after marrying military leader-turned-president, Juan Peron. Set in Buenos Aires between 1934 and 1952, the musical follows Eva Duarte Peron on her passionate and tragic journey from her humble beginnings and becoming an ambitious actress to being the most powerful woman in Latin America and eventually a saint-like figure after her death from cancer at age 33. Featuring some of the best-loved songs in musical theatre, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, Oh What a Circus, High Flying, Adored and Another Suitcase in Another Hall as well as You Must Love Me, the Oscar-winning hit from the film. • 17 November to 10 December: ‘Rock of Ages’ at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reed City in Johannesburg
Set on the infamous Sunset Strip in 1987, Rock of Ages tells the story of a city boy from South Detroit and a small-town girl, both in LA to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. This story will take you back to the times of big bands with big egos, playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! During the show, you’ll hear face-melting rock songs and power ballads by bands and artists such as Pat Benatar, Styx, Twisted Sister, Poison, Foreigner and REO Speedwagon along with other memorable 80s classics including We Built this City, The Final Countdown, I Want To Know What Love Is, I Wanna Rock and more. • 29 November: ‘The Bellamy Brothers’ at the Mosaïek Teatro in Roodepoort
The Bellamy Brothers will perform in South Africa, Namibia and Sri Lanka as the international icons add dates to their current world tour, appropriately titled Let Your Love Flow Tour after their first worldwide hit. They return to South Africa and Sri Lanka for the second visit during their 40 plus years career. The Bellamy Brothers will perform in Windhoek, Namibia as well as Cape Town. One of their two performances in Gauteng will be in Roodepoort. Their hit song, Let your love flow, written by Larry Wilson is also one of the theme songs in the movie American Made. • 24 November: Open Door Foundation-funksie by die NG Kerk Randfontein-Noord
Die Open Door Foundation bied aan ‘Herondek jou lewensvreugde’ met dr Pieter Joubert as gasspreker om 7nm. Daar sal ook ‘n uitstalling deur kunstenaars van die Randfontein Kunsvereniging wees. • 25 November: Power of Purple event hosted by Cansa at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand
A Power of Purple event will be hosted by the Cancer Association of South Africa at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand. The event, scheduled to take place from 12 noon till 12 midnight, is aimed at raising funds for education, care and support services for those affected by cancer. It is going to be a fun-filled team experience with food, entertainment, face-painting, a jumping castle and lots of fun for both young and old.
