Father of three run over and killed – Still no answers

Fiancée pleas for answers two years after fiancé and father of three was killed in pedestrian accident.

It’s been two years since Johannes Lodewikus Boshoff (Johan) was killed in a horrific pedestrian accident on Lazaar Avenue in Homelake on Sunday, 25 October 2015, and there are still no answers.

The Herald spoke to Chanel Joubert, 38, his fiancée of 12 years who was left behind with their three young children, and to an official reliable source, who said that this is a very complicated case. The case is on hold for restructuring.

One of the reasons is that an alcohol test was allegedly not performed on the driver after the incident. The other reason is that the speed at which the vehicle was travelling cannot be verified by the damage it incurred.

In the early hours of 25 October, Boshoff, 36, was walking home on Lazaar Avenue, after he had spent the previous evening gambling at a nearby casino. As he was about to cross a busy road near a petrol station, a motorist allegedly skipped the stop street and hit Boshoff.

The impact was so severe, he was flung into the air, bounced off the road and landed about three metres from the vehicle. Boshoff succumbed to his injuries at approximately 2.55am the next morning.

Joubert then opened a case of culpable homicide. She also said in 2015 that the driver should have been arrested that night after he allegedly confessed to drinking and driving.

Joubert added the children are still very badly affected by the death of their father.
