Possible missing person found dead

Randfontein Police investigating death of man found in Bekkersdal.

Bekkersdal Police are trying to identify a 30-year-old man found dead at Waterworks near Zuurbekom last week.

They have also launched a manhunt for the person/ persons responsible.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, confirmed that the police had received a complaint about a person who was badly injured at about 8.30am on Wednesday, 25 October.

“The police proceeded to the scene and found members of the Emergency Services on the scene. They declared the person dead,” said Lefakane.

Lefakane confirmed further that a case of murder had been registered and is under investigation. The deceased was not identified and remains unknown. His body was taken to the Carletonville Government Mortuary. The police are requesting the community to assist with identifying the victim, and to provide information that could help them solve the case.

The police have also asked the community to report missing friends and relatives as soon as possible.
