Wat skud in die dorp en sy omstreke?

• 26 and 27 October: Halloween on the Mystery Ghost Bus in Johannesburg
The ever-popular Mystery Ghost Bus Tours of South Africa, created by Mark Rose-Christie, will be holding its annual Halloween tours around the country during the 14 day Halloween period starting in Johannesburg on 26 and 27 October from 7pm to midnight. Prices vary from city to city, and are to be found on the website www.MysteryGhostBus.co.za which also provides all details of where to meet, what to bring, how to book etc. Dressing up in costume is encouraged.

• 27 tot 31 Oktober: 500 Jaar Fees in Randfontein
Op 31 Oktober 1517 het ‘n monnik, Martin Luther, die wêreldgeskiedenis verander deur 95 stellings op sy kerkdeur vas te spyker. Daar is gesê ons hele kultuur en bestaanswyse het verander. Ook in Suid-Afrika. Van 27 tot 31 Oktober word een van die grootste landwye herdenkings hiervan in Randfontein gevier. Dit begin met ‘n Oktoberfest en bereik ‘n hoogtepunt wanneer kerkleiers van Gauteng en Noordwes in die dorp kom feesvier. Replikas van die Wittenberg-kerkdeure word feestelik om 9vm geopen. Die hele Randfontein kan kom deelneem en feesvier by die “ou” NG Kerk Helikonpark.

• 27 Oktober: Lollos besoek Randfontein een van die dae
Die vertoning is Vrydagmiddag om 6nm by die AGS Kerk in Randgate. Lollos is ‘n opvoedkundige Afrikaanse vertoning vir kinders tussen een en tien jaar oud. Lollos se hele uitgangspunt is om kinders aktief te kry en saam te dans – die vertonings is dus uniek deurdat kinders iets leer terwyl hulle lekker saam beweeg en fiks word. Hulle leer onder andere die ABC, hoe om te tel, die dae van die week, hoe om gesond te eet en fiks te raak, hulle leer van ons land, herwinning en vele meer. • 27 to 29 October: Photo and Film Expo at the Ticketpro Dome in Northriding
This event is great for those who are interested in all things photo- and film-related. The Photo and Film Expo is the continent’s largest photographic event, filled with free workshops and amazing show specials on a wide variety of photographic gear. This year, there will be a Bootcamp theme complete with an exciting compact layout, utilising the newly renovated Blue Wing, taking you back to basics. In addition to providing the fundamentals to start, improve and grow your photographic skills, the Masterclass sessions include a more in-depth look at specific topics like editing and workflow.

• 28 Oktober: Lewende NG Kerk se straatkarnaval
Hou Saterdag, 28 Oktober oop om die Lewende NG Kerk se belowende straatkarnaval te ondersteun. Daar sal ‘n verskeidenheid stalletjies met onder meer kos, kuns en vermaak wees. Die organiseerders beloof ‘n heerlike kuierdag met hope pret vir oud en jonk. Die karnaval skop vroegoggend af by Jakarandastraat 15, Homelake.

• 28 October: Action-packed Nitro Circus at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg
Presented by SuperSport, Channel 24 and 947, Joburg can expect a breathtaking, thrilling and adrenaline-pumping Big Concerts experience unlike any other.
