Man allegedly rapes his teenage stepdaughter

Suspects were arrested for numerous offences such as hijacking, murder, business robbery, armed robbery, just to mention a few.

Last week, the West Rand Cluster Police made 339 arrests, including that of a 53-year-old stepfather, who allegedly raped his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

Suspects were arrested for numerous offences such as hijacking, murder, business robbery, armed robbery, fraud, housebreaking and theft, possession of housebreaking implements, business burglary, malicious damage to property, illegal mining, assault to cause grievous bodily harm and domestic-related assault.

“The arrests were secured during various crime-prevention operations conducted throughout the Cluster. Suspected stolen property and vehicles, and substances suspected to be drugs were also recovered and seized,” said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police.

Suspect were also arrested for minor offences, such as those liquor-related.

In a separate incident, the Bekkersdal Police arrested a 53-year-old stepfather for allegedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter in Simunye.

Most of these suspects were expected to appear in the magistrates’ courts in their respective areas on Monday the 23 October.

The Cluster commander, Major General Anna Mateisi applauded the members for their dedication and hard work, and thanked the community for working with the police in ensuring that perpetrators are brought to book.
