Police and churches pray against crime

"This prayer service was welcomed by the community and church leaders of Mohlakeng," said Constable Lucky Matome.

On Wednesday, 20 September, the police community and various churches from around Mohlakeng held a joint prayer service about the crime within the area, at the Ramosa Hall

“This prayer service was welcomed by the community and church leaders of Mohlakeng,” said Constable Lucky Matome.

The Randfontein community is well aware of its dependence upon the intervention of the Almighty and this prayer service was specifically aimed at addressing issues such as safer schools, crimes against women and children, property-related crimes, murders, and drugs and substance abuse.

Fighting crime is not, and should not be, the sole responsibility of the police, and although measures to address crime are always in place, Divine intervention is of paramount importance.

Major General Anna Mateisi, the West Rand cluster commander praised the Randfontein police station commander, Brigadier Jacob Manamela, for the initiative.

She further extended her thanks to the community of Mohlakeng and the leaders of various churches, for taking a stand against criminal minorities who are terrorising the community of Mohlakeng.

“Even these criminals need to be prayed for. We need to change their mindset through prayer,” she said.
