The former Randfontein and Westonaria Local Municipalities both received a ‘Most improved administration’ award at the Chartered Institute of Government Finance Audit and Risk Officers (CIGFARO) Finance Conference in Cape Town.
The award is a recognition of the effort the two former municipalities had put into the accounting for public finances.
An over the moon Tshidiso Tlharipe, spokesperson for Executive Mayor, Mzi Khumalo said the newly formed Rand West City Local Municipality has committed itself to improving on this achievement and will apply all the necessary skills to achieve an accountable and transparent institution.
“We also want to express appreciation towards the community of the two former institutions for placing their energy and inquiring on work of their finances.
The continuous interest of the community ensured that the two municipalities account on their work and took responsibility of their decisions.”
