UPDATE: Four wanted following cash-in-transit heist

West Rand police confirm a number of suspects are wanted for the cash-in transit heist in Randfontein earlier this week.

West Rand Police have launched a manhunt after five male suspects allegedly robbed a G4S vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money at a Caltex garage in Brandvlei on the N14 Road on Monday, 2 October.

Shortly after midnight, five unknown men attacked a G4S pick-up vehicle at the garage, firing several shots with assault rifles and wounding both the driver and security officer. One of the guards, a 38-year-old, sustained injuries to his lower leg while one of the suspects died on scene after being run over by the G4S vehicle.

According to Constable Lucky Matome, Tarlton Police spokesperson, “The suspects were allegedly driving a charcoal Audi with registration number CT 57 MS GP, which was found to be false. An inquest is also being investigated after a suspect, 49, was allegedly run over by the G4S security vehicle during the cash-in-transit robbery. A 9mm pistol with serial numbers filed off was recovered as well.”
