Saturday, 30 September, was National Cupcake Day, with funds being raised by Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer during the Sungate Farms’ 22nd birthday event.
“Cupcakes of HOPE, a non-profit company, not only raises funds to help kids with cancer, they also create awareness on all aspects of kids with cancer,” said Fernanda de Gouveia.
Lucille du Toit baked half of the cupcakes, but everybody involved did an amazing job.
At Saturday’s fundraising, incredibly creative cupcakes were on sale, and it was a huge success. Fernanda, Marina and Micaela de Gouveia and Daniela Pita also made it fun for the kids, giving them the opportunity to decorate their own cupcakes.
Last year, more than R1,8 million was raised on National Cupcake Day in South Africa, and Cupcakes of HOPE was able to bless an average of about 75 patients every month by either paying for their medical or day-to-day needs. Cupcakes of HOPE has helped more than 700 patients so far.
Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer is an annual event that is held in many of the big malls.
