UPDATE: Boy, 3, killed by electric shock – Family gets burial help

Mayor of Randfontein helps family with burial after death of boy who was electrocuted while trying to retrieve a ball that went over a fence.

Mzi Khumalo, the Rand West City Local Executive Mayor on Tuesday visited the bereaved family of three-year-old Taylor Julius who passed away tragically during the weekend, after being electrocuted.

Taylor passed away when he was playing ball with his friends and went to fetch the ball, which was lying between a wall and an open electrical box. He left behind his parents, Culver Volmink, 31 and Jolina Julius, 30, two brothers and one sister.

Other members of the municipality to join the Mayor included Violet Nqina Mzondeki (Council Speaker), Mkhuseli Jokazi (Council Whip and Chief Whip of the ANC) and Themba Goba (Municipal Manager).

Khumalo visited the family to pass on a message of condolences on behalf of the municipality and to make a monetary contribution towards the preparations for the little one’s burial.

“The Rand West City Local Municipality wishes to take this moment to convey both its sympathy to Taylor’s family and friends, and its hopes for a dignified burial. May the soul of the departed rest in peace,” said Tshidiso Tlharipe, municipality spokesperson.

Funeral details are as follows:

• Date: 21 September

• Venue: 1885 Stormrivier Street, Toekomsrus

• Time: 8 am

• All residents are welcome to attend his funeral.
