Stolen Krugersdorp car found in R’fontein 9 months later

Randfontein Police recover a car stolen from Krugersdorp in January this year in Culemborg Park.

The Randfontein Trio Reaction Team made a successful arrest when they found two suspects in possession of a stolen vehicle in Culemborg Park.

On 6 September at approximately 1.45pm, the team was patrolling in the Culemborg Park area when they spotted a vehicle in Haarlem Street. They made an inquiry on the ownership of the vehicle, since they suspected that there was something suspicious regarding the vehicle.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Krugersdorp during January 2017.

“The vehicle was pulled over and the occupants questioned. Neither occupant, one aged 28 and the other 19, was able to give a reasonable explanation regarding their possession of the vehicle,” said Ernst.

Both men were arrested. They appeared in court and the case was postponed to 3 October 2017.

“The Trio Reaction Team, consisting of Warrant Officer Dix Dicks and Constables Bongani Sibiya and Shoes Mosweu, is making an impact on the crimes in the R’tein area. They are applauded for their vigilance and successful arrest.”

Brigadier Manamela, Randfontein Police Station commander said, “The group’s commitment is appreciated.”
