A young Bekkersdal woman died over the weekend trying to stop a fight between two men.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the incident took place at about 2.15am on Saturday, 9 September.

It is alleged the suspect was fighting with another man at a local tavern when the 30-year-old woman tried to stop the fight. It is alleged the suspect stabbed the victim once in the left of her chest. She was taken to the Bekkersdal Emergency Medical Services where she later passed away.
“The police were called in and a case of murder was registered. The community handed over the suspect, 26, to the police. He was arrested and charged with murder as well as assault,” said Lefakane.
The suspect will make a brief appearance in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court soon.
