Killer jailed for stabbing man to death

A 29-year-old man was sentenced after he was found guilty of committing a murder in the Randfontein CBD in 2015.

The Randfontein Police are very pleased to announce that a 2015 murder case has been concluded.

Recently a 29-year-old accused was sentenced after he was found guilty of committing a murder in the Randfontein CBD. The case was concluded in the regional court.

According to the police spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the accused, Thabang Mojahi, stabbed the 43-year-old Pulaeng Lekebe with a broken bottle in Middelvlei on 4 October 2015 at about 10pm. Ernst added that the accused handed himself over to the police the following evening. The case was properly investigated and the accused was found guilty of murder.

The accused was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for the murder and a further six months for assaulting a female who was also on the scene of the murder. The accused was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Warrant Officer Bongani Mpete investigated the matter thoroughly and is commended on the outcome thereof. The members of the NPA and the Justice Department should also be commended for the stance they took in this matter. Partnership at its best,” said station commander, Brigadier Manamela.
