Police to public: Say “No” to buying stolen goods

Local police warn about buying of and dealing in stolen goods.

The Bekkersdal Police have advised the community to refrain from dealing in and buying stolen goods, as doing so is a crime.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, said, “The community has an obligation to report incidents where other community members are buying or dealing in stolen goods as it creates a market for the criminals.”

The stolen goods come from the same communities whose houses are broken into and robbed.

“We as the Bekkersdal Police say ‘Enough is enough’!”

They are urging everyone to act against those who deal in stolen property. Information relating to these crimes may be communicated anonymously on 08600 1011.

Alternatively, they can contact the officer investigating cases of dealing in second-hand goods at the Bekkersdal Police, namely Sergeant Modise Ramagaga on 011 755 0000/ 4 or 060 370 3724.
