Four injured, one trapped in vehicle/ truck crash

Four people sustained various injuries, one person trapped, after a truck and vehicle collided earlier this morning.

Four people sustained various injuries after a vehicle and truck collided near the intersection of the R28 and N12 in Carletonville earlier this morning (17 Augustus), ER24 said.

One man sustained serious injuries and had to be freed from his vehicle after being trapped as a result of the crash.

Werner Vermaak, ER24 spokesperson, said in a statement that at about 4.30am, paramedics from ER24 as well as other services arrived on the scene.

He explained, “ER24 personnel investigated and found a man trapped inside the light motor vehicle. The local fire department had to use rescue tools to free him from the wreckage. The three other occupants of the vehicle also sustained various injuries but the driver was seriously injured. The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries.”

The injured were later transported to Fountains Hospital for further medical care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are not yet known.
