A woman was surprised by an intruder armed with a knife in her home over the weekend. Here's what happened ...

A woman, 43, in Bekkersdal was woken up to something no one wants to see, that of an intruder armed with a knife in her home.

Captain Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson confirmed at about 2.30am on Sunday, 6 August, a suspect broke into a woman’s house and robbed her of her cellular phone and bank card at knife point.

It is alleged the victim was asleep when she heard footsteps from the other side of the house.

“She went to investigate and was accosted by a man threatening her with a knife. She allegedly fought back and as they were struggling she heard the sound of a vehicle outside the house,” Lefakane said.

The suspect then grabbed her cellular phone and bank card and ran away. This case was reported to the Bekkersdal Police. The suspect is still on the run. The Bekkersdal Police has now launched a manhunt for the suspect.
