Woman burns herself UPDATE: ‘My mother will pull through’

The family believes that she will pull through.

Two weeks after a woman had set herself alight in public, her daughter confirmed that she is doing better by the day.

The woman sustained serious burn wounds after pouring petrol on her head and body and setting herself alight.

Her daughter, Susan Cloete informed the Herald on Thursday 13 July that her mother is awake. She thanked the community for their support and prayers.

Cloete told the Herald that her mother is able to eat, drink, speak and stand.

“The psychiatrist came to see her on Wednesday 19 July and she is doing very well,” said Cloete.

According to Cloete her mother sustained serious burn wounds to her face and neck, but the family believes that she will pull through.

“We will see the doctor at the end of the month and he will tell us what is to happen next,” said Cloete.

Cloete, her mother and the family thank everyone for their prayers and emotional support during this difficult time.
