Residents walk to raise funds for model

Residents walked on high heels throughout the streets of Toekomsrus over the weekend as fundraiser for model in the hope she can jet off to New York.

Residents walked from Toekomsrus Police Station on Saturday, 15 July as part of a fundraiser called ‘Walk a Mile on Heels’ to benefit model Jade-miné Voster.

Jade-miné has done extremely well in modelling and she was scouted from two different beauty pageants. The fundraiser was held in the hope that sufficient funds would be raised for her to jet off to New York on 28 July for modelling auditions.

Not only girls and boys supported the cause but even some motorists joined them to the finish in Westergloor.

The fun part was Jade-miné, her friends – among them boys – and supporters walking the distance in high heels.

Jade-miné said, “It was really awesome, I enjoyed seeing so many girls supporting me. It was really nice.

Thanks to everyone who was there and who gave a donation as well as those who wrote a message on my shirt. I really appreciate everything the communities of Toekomsrus and Westergloor have done for me.”

Jade-miné’s family said, “It went very well, and the support of the Toekomsrus Philanthropic Foundation Arts Academy is highly appreciated. The girls and parents were amazing. There was great team spirit and ubuntu among them.”

They also said that while driving around in the community of Toekomsrus it was exciting to see the girls walking with tins and asking money from people at the garage and shops in Toekomsrus.

Jade-miné is still in need of funds and any donations are highly appreciated.

“If there is anyone else who wishes to contribute towards my trip, please do so,” said Jade-miné. She can accept donations until 2 August.
