14 injured in vehicle, taxi crash

A taxi and vehicle collided in Randfontein earlier this morning, leaving 14 injured.

Fourteen people were injured when a light motor vehicle and taxi collided on Randfontein Road earlier this morning (Thursday, 6 July).

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said paramedics arrived on scene at about 6.10am and found the taxi parked against the pavement. The light motor vehicle had come to a stop in the middle of the road.

Several people had already climbed out of the taxi and were found walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the victims and found that 14 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

“Fortunately, no serious or fatal injuries were reported on the scene,” Meiring said.

Those injured were treated and transported to Leratong and Lenmed Hospital for further care.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
