Police made close to 400 arrests across the West Rand within one week for the period Monday, 26 June to Sunday, 2 July.
Constable Lucky Matome, West Rand Cluster Police spokesperson said the arrests were secured by their dedicated members serving the community of the West Rand.
“The successes were achieved through various crime prevention and intelligent driven operations throughout the region.”
Crimes that landed suspects behind bars include murder, armed robbery, business robbery, hijacking, drunken driving, sexual offences, rape, housebreaking and theft, possession of drugs, possession of dagga, theft, possession of suspected stolen goods, defeating the ends of justice, reckless and negligent driving, illegal mining, fraud, possession of stolen property, possession of gold bearing material, drunkenness and disorderly behaviour, and undocumented persons.

Major General Anna Mateisi, West Rand Cluster Commander applauded the members for the level of professionalism that is displayed by visible policing and the detectives. Mateisi further indicated that the partnership between the police and the community is of paramount importance and encouraged members to be the ambassadors of the organisation.
