Shallow grave murder UPDATE: Relative denied bail

No bail for 34-year-old accused of murdering relative in Pelzvale Shallow Grave case.

Police have confirmed that the man arrested in the Shallow Grave murder case in Pelzvale, who is related to the 63-year-old victim, as confirmed on 6 June, has been denied bail.

The 34-year-old suspect appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court for the first time on Monday, 5 June, facing charges of murder. However, the case was postponed for seven days for the state to continue its investigations. He then appeared in court again on Wednesday, 14 June, when he was denied bail.

On Thursday, 1 June, human remains were dug up from a shallow grave on a plot in Pelzvale. Forensic experts spent numerous hours exhuming the body, which was transported to the Roodepoort Government Mortuary for a postmortem.
