Update on the needs of #KnysnaVictims

Thank you Randfonteiners for your kind donations for #KnysnaFireVictims! Their needs has, however, changed ...

Humanitarian support has been pouring in from all over South Africa following the sad news of fires sweeping through the scenic coastal town of Knysna, killing several people, destroying homes and forcing the evacuation of thousands of people last week.

The Herald has been overwhelmed with residents donating clothes, food and much more for the victims of the devastating Knysna fire disaster. Contributions from communities all over, destined for the Knysna fire disaster victims, continue to pour in; however, the needs of the victims have changed somewhat since the initial calls for donations were made.

Word from the town is that eye-drops and lip balms are needed by the fire-fighters, and that water, energy drinks/ bars, non-perishable foods, baby food, feminine products and toiletries are most needed.

Although Caxton has arranged for the transport of the goods received to date to the disaster area, more help is needed from people in the community. If there is any company willing to assist with transport, please let us know, by emailing randfonteinherald@caxton.co.za.
