Four killed, 14 injured in two accidents

Four people died and 14 others were injured in two major accidents during the weekend.

Four people lost their lives in two separate accidents in Carletonville during the weekend.

At about 9am on Sunday, 4 June, three men were killed and four others injured on Bank Road, in a three-vehicle accident.

The second accident scene, where one patient was declared dead.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said, “On our arrival we found the vehicles all over the scene. Four men were walking around while three others were found lying inside their vehicles. Upon closer inspection we realised the three patients in the vehicles had sustained fatal injuries. They were declared dead on scene.

“Paramedics treated the remaining victims, providing the injured with advanced life support interventions. A critically injured patient had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.”

Later that evening, a man passed away and ten others were injured on the Welverdiend road.

Meiring said, “It is alleged that a bakkie and a light motor vehicle collided head-on. ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene and found two vehicles on opposite sides of the road with a number of injured persons lying around the scene.

“All the patients were treated and the less severely injured were transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital. The causes of the collisions are not yet known, but local authorities were at both scenes for further investigations.”
