RCA geared for a fabulous 2017

Dr Ayres interviewed the parents individually, and explained to them in detail what the school is about.

Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA) held their Open Day on Friday, 26 May, at their new venue at the AGS Randfontein Church

Dr Chris Ayres, who was appointed principal of the school in January last year, said the open day was extremely successful and he has great expectations for the school, as they have relocated to a much better and safer environment for the learners and staff.

Parents were introduced to the teachers of the various grades and then had a tour of the premises. Chris interviewed the parents individually, and explained to them in detail what the school is about.

Doctor Chris Ayres is excited about 2017 at RCA.

While the parents were busy, the RCA learners and the children of the interested parents had a ball outside, having their faces painted and playing on a jumping castle. Everybody also enjoyed a braai.

Chris said that at this stage there is about 30 learners at the school, which is owned by AGS Randfontein Church. It is an English-medium school with English learning material, although many of the learners are from Afrikaans homes. The school focuses on the learners progressing at their own pace. Also, what the Herald finds amazing, is that a Bible verse is included in their study material, which the learners need to learn.

Chris is fully qualified for his position as principal of the Academy. He completed his honours degree at the University of Pretoria, and his masters and doctorate of education at the then Rand Afrikaans University, now known as the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
